Therapy, Fame, Profit, Memory Saving or Gift to All?
Emotions: Writing is therapy. It is a way of exiting bad thoughts, bad feelings, bad pictures in the mind. They are wrapped up in words, tied into a bundle, and safely dropped into a journal or a story, then shoved aside.
Mind and thoughts: Writing is a way of saving up thoughts that are so fleeting, so erased and never come again! The writer searches for the exact word or phrase, arranges it all in some logical format, then commits it to paper. The writer may encounter this writing again some day or year, and remember what was otherwise totally forgotten at the conscious level. Perhaps everything is “written in the book of life”, remembered somewhere, but individuals sometimes have difficulty locating that exact place where a memory is stored. Remembering may bring it into a pattern, thereby making some event more meaningful.
Volitions: Writing once published or otherwise shared, as in speeches, brings the writer into the view of others. Publication brings “fame” of one kind or another, although poor writing or deceitful writing may expose the shortcomings of the writer in ways he/she had not anticipated. Then publications bring shame instead of fame.
Physical: Publication which is very successful, to the extent that others will pay to read or hear it, maybe bring wealth to the writer. The troubles of managing great wealth may be worth the time, or it may not. The person who values time to write may find the distractions too much, the attention unwanted.
Spirit: Whether the writer recognizes the guidance of Spirit or not, a truly gifted piece of writing comes from and belongs to the Universe, to the One Spirit. The embedded truths are meant to be brought forth, to the help and guidance of others, whether known or not to the writer, perhaps not even in the same living generation.
Thus I write, of some many experiences, thoughts, and responses. I write compulsively, not knowing the source of my compulsion. Some works I think I should destroy lest others be embarrassed by them. But I don’t really know Whose creation my writing is, so they are saved. My life experiences are of little importance from one perspective, and they are shared by everyone from another.
